The Echo has put out a call to all residents who have discovered novel ways to celebrate special events under COVID conditions. We have already received several contributions from people which we hope to gather and publish in the February issue of the Echo when we can add stories from Christmas and New Year celebrations. Meanwhile here are some contributions from Halloween and birthday parties.

Families in Bingham Park area planned a Halloween parade, residents in the The Wedge had Ghosting experiences, and a babe in ByWard turned into a pumpkin.

For birthday parties, one of my daughter’s favourite children’s stories when she was young was The Velveteen Rabbit or How Toys Become Real by Margery Williams. A child’s stuffed toys fit into a hierarchy of endearment, each with a specific role and purpose to play, and what better purpose than to help celebrate a birthday for a five-year old. Sofia Borsten sent in this photo of Chloe and friends gathered for her party. Winnie the Pooh would be proud.
