Après cinq vagues et presque deux ans de pandémie, nous vivons de la fatigue, une écoeurantite, de la résignation, de la résilience et malgré tout, de l’optimisme. Bien sûr, les jeunes de la Basse-Ville ressentent aussi un grand éventail d’émotions. Nous avons demandé aux enfants de nos programmes parascolaires de s’exprimer en mots et en dessins sur comment ils se sentent. Nous leur avons poser trois questions :
1- Qu’est-ce qui vous déplaît dans la pandémie? Qu’est-ce qui vous frustre?
2-Qu’est-ce qui vous a aidé / avez fait pour rendre la situation plus facile à gérer ?
3-Quels ont été des aspects positifs da la pandémie? Qu’est-ce que tout cela t’a appris ?
After five waves and almost two years of the pandemic, we are exhausted, fed up, resigned, resilient and despite everything, optimistic. Of course, Lowertown youth have experienced a wide range of emotions too. We asked children in our after-school programs to express themselves in words and pictures about how they feel. We asked them three questions:
Q 1 – What do you dislike about the pandemic? What frustrates you about all this?
Q 2 – What kind of things are you doing to get by / to make it more manageable? What has helped you?
Q 3 – What have been some positive parts of the pandemic? What has all this taught you?

- Beaucoup d’endroits qui sont fermés et empêche d’aller à ces endroits. On ne peut pas faire trop de choses avec le covid, et ça frustre. – Maya et Keliana, 10 ans
- What I feel challenging about the pandemic is that you can’t see somebody you love. – Amy, 9 years old
- It’s annoying because I hate staying at home. The challenge is people dying. – Linh, 9 years old
- What I dislike about pandemic is I have to wear a mask all day. Nothing can make me feel frustrated cuz I still can see my friend Linh. What I find challenging is that I can’t breathe through the mask. – Tram, 9 years old
- Le port de masque et la distanciation rend ennuyant. – Maya, 10 ans
- I can’t visit my granpapa, and that frustrates me. – Kira, 10 years old
- I dislike that the pandemic evolves in different phases. Online class is frustrating because I can’t learn. I find wearing a mask very annoying. – David
- What I dislike about the pandemic is the masks. We need to keep our masks on for like hours! – Hamid, 10 years old
- I don’t like the pandemic because I can’t see my friends as often. I get frustrated because I have to go online school. It annoys me because I find it challenging to find a cure for it. – Nicolas, 8 years old
- Parler avec le masque toute la journée c’est difficile. – Keliana, 10 ans
- I can play boardgames, sleepovers. If it’s winter play with snow, and if it’s summer ride bike. – Hamid, 10 years old
- I play games and call my friends to get by. The vaccine is very helpful to me because I don’t get as sick. I can sleep longer thanks to the pandemic. I have learned to be more careful of things. – David, 9 years old
- I am playing in snow to make it more manageable. Masks and the vaccine has been helpful. Wear your mask properly is my advice. – Nicolas 8 years old
- Le vaccin a été utile. Comme conseil : rester chez soi. Comme activité : dessiner. – Maya, 10 ans
- Watch tv. Play with my friends online. Call my friends. Play with my mom. – Amy, 9 years old
- Ce que la pandémie a enseigné c’est de se laver les mains, la distanciation et être prudent. – Maya et Keliana, 10 ans
- This pandemic taught me to be more clean and healthy. – Nicolas, 8 years old
Our LCRC youth workers are doing an admirable job adapting, listening and supporting the youth as best they can in their journey through these interesting times. Thank you to the youth for sharing!
Nos intervenantes auprès des jeunes font un travail remarquable en s’adaptant constamment, en écoutant et en soutenant les jeunes du mieux qu’elles le peuvent dans leur cheminement. En espérant que cette année sera plus facile pour tous!
